What is Phytotherapy?
The name “phytotherapy” comes from “phyton”- plant and “therapy”- treatment from Greek. It is an alternative method of treatment based on the healing properties of plants and herbs. I personally use the herbs as a tea, tincture, or supplements. Worldwide, about 500,000 plant species are known, but only about 5% of them have been studied as pharmacologically active substances. This shows only one thing – there is a huge reserve of still unexplored species and opportunities to discover new medicinal plants.
